Laborers’ Local 1001 is an affiliate of LiUNA, the Laborers’ International Union of North America. Since 1937 Laborers’ Local 1001 has represented the City of Chicago employees.
The labor union promotes solidarity among the members, protects the members’ rights in the workplace, increases job skills through training, and informs the public.
In partnership with the Midwest Coalition of Labor, Local 1001 provides its members access to different training and benefits programs. Among them are healthcare and dental insurances, retirement, and pension programs.
