IUOE Local 77 is a labor union that represents over 1,600 skilled operators of heavy equipment who serve the metropolitan area of the District of Columbia. This includes Charles, St. Mary’s, Prince George’s, and Montgomery counties in Maryland, as well as Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford, King George, Loudoun, Fauquier, and Arlington counties, and the city of Alexandria in Virginia. It was chartered in 1901 as part of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Local 77 maintains a training center in Accokeek, Maryland, providing its members with the latest training, available certifications, and licensing training. In addition, eligible members receive a set of benefits that includes medical insurance, retirement benefits, and a vacation policy.
