IUOE Local 138, 138A, 138B, and 138C is a trade union that represents around 1,500 Operating Engineers. These engineers work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and oilers in the construction industry in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, Long Island, New York. The union was founded in 1933 as part of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Through its Apprenticeship Training School (ATS), Local 138 offers registered apprenticeship programs to its members. The program is jointly sponsored by the Local 138 membership and its signatory contractors.
