Founded in 1910, IUOE Local 406 is a labor union representing over 1,800 highly skilled operating engineers in the States of Louisiana and Mississippi. It encompasses individuals from diverse occupations and industries, including Heavy Equipment Operators, Crane Rental, Heavy & Highway Construction, Pipeline Construction, Stationary Engineers, Casino Workers, Public Works, Ship Building, Offshore Fabrication, and Stevedoring.
Through its training center in Robert, LA, Local 406 provides its members with several training programs such as Apprenticeship & Educational Training Program, Heavy Equipment Training, and Pipeline Training Program. Additionally, all eligible members receive a set of benefits such as higher wages, Family Health Care, Short-Term Disability Benefits, Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), Pension Plans, and more.
