Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 442 currently represents approximately 600 skilled workers who serve 8 counties in the San Joaquin valley and Sierra foothills. The Plumbers, Gas, and Steam Fitters Local Union 492 in Stockton and Local Union 437 in Modesto merged in 1997 to become the Plumbers, Pipe, and Refrigeration Fitters Local Union 442.
