Chartered on July 25, 1902, IBEW Local 291 represents nearly 1,100 workers who serve Ada, Adams, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Owyhee, Payette, Valley, and Washington counties in Idaho.
Its members are divided into several categories of electrical work, including Outside, Inside, Radio-Television Service, Radio-Television Broadcasting, Teledata, Maintenance and Operation, and Communications.
Operating under the parent exemption of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 291 offers its members different benefits programs, in particular, high-class apprenticeship by Southwest Idaho JATC, health and welfare plans, Union Plus program, retirement plan, legal services, etc.
