Formed in 1973, IBEW Local 1837 represents approximately 1,600 working men and women all over Maine and New Hampshire. Most of its members work at electric utilities or broadcasting stations throughout the two states. They work at companies such as Central Maine Power, Eversource in New Hampshire, WGME-TV 13, etc.
The primary goal of Local 1837 is to enhance the quality of life of its members. The union offers a variety of services to its members, including education, health coverage, a pension plan, and a Union Plus program. The latter entails various discounts on everyday purchases as well as free college degrees for EAA/IBEW members and their families.
