IBEW Local 98 was chartered on January 5, 1900. It has over 5,000 members and is widely regarded as one of the most financially successful IBEW Locals in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Its jurisdiction encompasses the City of Philadelphia and the majority of the four surrounding suburban counties – Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Chester. Locals’ recent expansion was significantly impacted by the merger with the IBEW Local 380 in 2015, which included a sizable portion of Montgomery County and other suburban Philadelphia counties.
IBEW Local 98 and NECA created a Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee to offer the best possible training to secure employment.
