Sprinkler Fitters UA Local 696 has nearly 600 members who serve Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union, and Passaic counties and parts of Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, and Somerset counties in New Jersey. It was established in 1916 by the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry.
Local 696 provides five-year apprenticeship programs, continuing education opportunities that include training and certification for journeymen, and an associate degree program. Its members also enjoy a wide range of benefits such as health plans, a Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Pension Plans, eye and ear care, and more.
