UA Local 5

Members of UA Local 5 are responsible for installing, maintaining, and servicing the waste, water & gas systems in the Washington D.C. area, portions of the state of Maryland, and portions of the state of Virginia. Established in 1890 as a part of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry, the Local Union stands for 1,600 skilled plumbers.

Local 5 trains Apprentice through a tuition-free five-year apprenticeship program and continuing education classes for its journeymen. Members, along with their families, enjoy the following benefits: health & welfare, pension, retirement savings, and vacation funds.
