Laborers’ Local 159

Local 159 was founded on April 24, 1934, and is an affiliate of the Laborers’ International Union of North America.

Currently, Local 159 serves about 660 men and women who carry out a variety of tasks required for the construction of the counties it covers. Its jurisdiction includes Macon, Shelby, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Cumberland, Clark and Edgar counties in Illinois.

Members of Local 159 receive competitive pay and a range of benefits, such as health insurance, a pension plan, scholarships and access to the Illinois Laborers and Contractors Joint Apprenticeship and Training program.
