UA Local 51 stands for approximately 1,300 Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Refrigeration Technicians who serve the entire state of Rhode Island as well as portions of Massachusetts. It was established on January 1, 1997, when four locals from Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts (LU 77, 276, 476, and 28) merged.
In addition to a thorough Joint Apprenticeship Training Program for entry-level employees, Local 51 offers continuing education programs to its journeymen. The union also offers a variety of benefits including pensions, health and welfare benefits, annuity, eye, and dental Insurance, etc.
