The Laborers Local 894 was chartered on March 9, 1936, as an associate of LIUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America, AFL-CIO). The union serves the counties of Summit, Portage, and Medina in Northeast Ohio.
Local 894, headquartered in Akron, Ohio, serves around 1300 men and women who work in the building and construction trades business. Its members supply approximately 500 signatory Building & Heavy Highway Contractors with a skilled and in-demand labor force.
Local 894 members may participate in training at the Drexel J. Thrash Training Center in Millwood, Ohio. The centre provides a comprehensive curriculum for participants to gain skill certification and training as they go through an apprenticeship and beyond.
