Ironworkers Local 55 was established on February 16, 1903, and currently, it is comprised of more than 1,000 experienced tradespeople throughout 18 counties of Northwest Ohio. Located in Toledo, Ohio, the local union is affiliated with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers.
They have contributed to the construction of many important projects in this area. Among them are viaducts for Wabash Railroad, a bridge for Toledo Railway and Terminal Company, the Spitzer Building, Devilbliss, Central Catholic High Schools, Commodore Perry Hotel, and many more.
The Toledo Area Iron Workers JATC provides a four-year Apprenticeship program that covers all parts of the ironworking craft, as well as a variety of benefits such as better pay, annuity, medical, and pension plans.
