Ironworkers Local 509

Shopmen Ironworkers Local 509 has been representing nearly 600 members in Iron Worker fabrication shops (including rebar, structural steel, stairs, rails, and cranes) across Southern California and Southern Nevada.

Union members hold specialized skills in welding, fabricating, rebar fabrication, machine operation, finishing of both ferrous and non-ferrous products, aircraft surface peening, and raw steel distribution.

Local 509 members are trained through employer training, the Labor Management Cooperative Trust (LMCT), and additional training provided by Local 509, including courses in steel fabrication, welding, machine operating, CNC operation, machining, blueprint reading, and more. Moreover, eligible ironworkers receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical coverage and retirement plans.
