Ironworkers Local 172

Iron Workers Local 172 is a trade union located in Columbus, Ohio, that represents nearly 1,000 talented and hard-working craftsmen in 25 counties in Ohio. Members of this union specialize in the construction of steel structures and have contributed to building the iconic structures in the city’s skyline, including Ohio Stadium and St. John Arena.

Established in 1915, Local 172 is affiliated with the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers.

The members of Local 172 are trained through an apprenticeship program that includes classes on various topics such as Welding, Burning, Rebar Installation, Ornamental Iron Work, Structural Iron Work, Rigging, Crane Signalling, and much more. In addition to training, all eligible members receive a range of benefits, such as higher wages, Medical and Prescription Drug plans, Pension, Annuity, and more.
