Membership of IBEW Local 309 includes approximately 1,300 Industrial, Commercial, Residential, and Teledata Electricians, Utility and Outside Lineman, Line Clearance, Garage Mechanics, Meterman, Warehouseman, Meter Readers, Manufacturing, Maintenance workers, Radio/Television/Sound/ and Public Address Technicians.
Its authority includes all of Monroe and St. Clair Counties, the majority of Madison, Macoupin, and Clinton Counties, and portions of Montgomery, Bond, Washington, and Randolph Counties. Many of these locations are rural, but their mainstays are US Steel, Scott Air Force Base, and St. Clair Square Shopping Center.
